The Opening Session by the Assistant Director General for the Social and Human Sciences of UNESCO, Gabriela Ramos focuses on bringing social and human sciences to the forefront of policy and asks about the potential AI’s impact on the future of democracy. This comes timely with Prof. Odrowąż-Coates involvement with the initiative for the establishment of the Year of Education for Democracy 2025 by Polish Parliament.
Ibrahim H. Mayaki, former Prime Minister of Niger, makes an excellent point in this respect about lack of long-term strategy of governing bodies and how education for democracy may be just the best support for the long-term democratic vision. He also said that lack of social justice, one of critical grounds for democracy, leads to extremism.
Professor Odrowaz-Coates advocates for the Year of Education for Democracy as one of the founding members of the initiative including multiple prominent association such as the Polish Janusz Korczak Association, Collegium Nobilium Novum Foundation and others.
Ambassador Mariusz Lewicki will be chairing the MOST Session on 18th of June bringing Polish expertise to the forefront of UNESCO MOST Programme Development. We are very proud to be part of this intergovernmental initiative.
